Equal Pay Day: Who really cares whether men and women are paid the same, anyway?

I’m supposed to be at an Equal Pay Day event right now… but I was so cranky that women still earn 17% less than men in equivalent roles that I decided to stay home.  Instead of hearing more women speak about how unjust the gap is, and decree another call to action for the female […]

Why the Government is wrong to reduce the childcare rebate – and why it will mean fewer women in senior roles

I’m deeply concerned about by the government’s announcement that the childcare rebate is to be reduced (yes – you read right: reduced!).  As you’ll be aware, I recently co-founded the Make Care Fair lobby aimed at increasing childcare support and flexibility for Australian families… and yet the government has just announced plans to cut the […]

Would you speak out about inappropriate behaviour or bullying at work? Why most women don’t.

“So who here would like to fu#% Jane* tonight?”   This is the example one woman gave me to illustrate the culture of bullying and harassment in her team. Check this out, I'm in awe. My friend Ronni Kahn is at it again, disrupting the food supply chain, offering food security to the vulnerable. I've shared before about OzHarvest. When I first met Ronni ten years ago I knew she was special, but what she has achieved and continues to achieve truly blows my mind. She cares so much about the people that OzHarvest serves, and every person in her life, and gives her everything to make sure that no person needs to go hungry. The international expansion of OzHarvest is awesome, and this "take what you need" supermarket in Sydney is just brilliance. Repurposing and rehoming surplus food, keeping it out of landfill so that we all benefit and business overheads are lowered. Win. Win. Win. Love it! ... See MoreSee Less
