TiE Sydney, a not-for-profit organization supporting entrepreneurs, has announced a pitching competition for women to be held on March 2, 2011 at the Sydney Hilton Hotel at 6.00 pm. The prize for the most innovative start-up idea and business plan is a return ticket to India to attend TiECON, a leading annual entrepreneurship event, in 2011. Entries close February 25, 2011.
Entrants will be required to pitch their entrepreneurial ideas in a short three minute presentation to convince a panel of judges to back their idea. All entrants will also have an opportunity to attend a pitching workshop run by successful TiE entrepreneurs.
The objective of the competition is to give aspiring women entrepreneurs an opportunity to present, and perfect, their elevator pitch. All entrepreneurs will need to raise money at some stage and will present their proposal to potential investors. The competition aims to build participants’ confidence in their ideas and themselves, provide valuable feedback on content and style from seasoned entrepreneurs and venture capitalists and connect them to a global network of supportive members.
The winner will have an opportunity to connect and network with other successful entrepreneurs at TiECON in India. According to TiE estimates, those associated with TiE have created businesses with market value over $200 Billion since 1992.
TiE is a global, not-for-profit organization of entrepreneurs and professionals and has come to stand for “Talent, Ideas and Enterprise”.
The Sydney chapter of TiE celebrates 10 years in Sydney this year and provides advice and support to the Sydney entrepreneurial community through mentoring, networking and education.
Entrants can register on-line and download a Pitching Pack at www.sydneytie.info orwww.sydney.tie.org.
