A little while ago I wrote a blog sharing an article about how to stand out from your peers, who have the same degree, similar skills and experiences to you. Another great way to stand out and get the promotion is to be more clued up and aware of how work is changing, and apply your emerging trend awareness and intuition to your proposals, reviews and projects.
This article from HBR is written by John Hagel III and John Seely Brown from the Deloitte LLP Centre On the Edge and explores six significant shifts in the way we work. Whilst the article uses American statistics, I’m sure the same shifts are (or will shortly) occur in Australia to. These shifts include the realisation that our management practices are fundamentally broken and our consequent adaptation, that the concept of value is changing and that Asia is the new global centre of innovation, to name just three.
I had a lot of ideas about how companies could start adapting their practices and expectations to benefit from riding this changes, if you have any or ideas about how you can get a handle around these trends, please share it in the comments section below.
