MEDIA RELEASE: sphinxx, the network for senior and aspiring female business leaders celebrates Australia’s first female Prime Minister as a win for all women

“Today we celebrate a moment in time that will never come again: the appointment of Australia’s first female Prime Minister, to be sworn in by our first female Governor General”, said Jen Dalitz, founder and SheEO of sphinxx and campaigner for advancing women as leaders.

“Women all over Australia are celebrating today; it’s an outcome Australian women have been waiting for and I’ve been inundated with phone calls and SMS messages from women in our network celebrating Julia Gillard’s win – regardless of their political views”, said Dalitz.

TIME IS RIGHT FOR WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP

That Australia will be led for the first time by a woman continues the wave of change that is sweeping the country, including ASX guidelines and the first universal paid parental leave scheme for all Australians, both being introduced from 1st January 2011.sphinxx is committed to advancing women as leaders and its vision is to see women equally represented in leadership roles, in Australia’s workplaces and communities. “With the introduction over the coming year of the ASX guidelines and paid parental leave, and now our first ever female Prime Minister, the time has never been better for women looking to forge ahead in their careers”, says Dalitz.

About sphinxx | sphinxx is a social enterprise committed to advancing women as leaders.  Our vision is to see women equally represented in leadership roles – in business and in our communities.  We provide resources and professional development to support women on their leadership journey through our flagship Ascend development days; and advice and education to ensure employers find and keep the best women on their teams.

There are many organisations that provide networking for women; we’re not much like them. Our programs bring women together in a meaningful way to specifically address the personal and professional skills gaps that they say are holding them back. And when it comes to advising employers, we’re not like most consulting firms either. We conduct our own research and work collaboratively with employers, women and leading experts across different industries, sectors and geographies to build robust and practical strategies that deliver lasting change. sphinxx is also a finalist in the 2010 Telstra Business Awards.

About Jen Dalitz | Jen Dalitz (MBA BA(Acc) CPA) is the SheEO of sphinxx and is obsessed with getting more women into leadership roles, in our workplaces and communities. That’s why she started sphinxx and why she writes about, speaks about, mentors and consults on topics relating to working women. Jen’s career in finance and consulting spanned 16 years, international borders and a host of Fortune 500 companies.  As an executive and business consultant she experienced first hand the challenges women face as they climb the corporate ladder; and the impact on the bottom line when female talent is under-utilised.  Away from sphinxx, Dalitz is a wife and mother of a small child and sits on the board of the Peer Support Foundation. She has also been nominated this year for the Telstra Business Women’s Awards for the second year running and last month was recognised with an Edna Ryan Workplace Award for improving conditions for women workers through the sphinxx programs and its leadership development days for senior women in business.
