Daniel Goleman is the man behind the “emotional intelligence” wave that (thankfully) hit us all in 1995. He has recently analysed the competency models from 188 major companies, and has uncovered a dramatic and critical finding – the EQ proved to be twice as important as cognitive skills and intellect.
His findings are listed in this Harvard Business Review article, about what makes truly effective leaders. As studies continue to find, women employees and leaders generally exhibit a sound level of EQ, so these findings are encouraging.
